At approximately 9:38 p.m. on this date the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office and Pratt County Emergency Services were dispatched to a work place accident at the Wind Farm southeast of Pratt. Location was 7 miles east and 4 ½ miles south of Pratt.
On arrival Sheriff’s Officers found a 26 year old male with a severe head wound. The worker was approximately 100 feet above the ground inside the tower, when a 4 pound bolt, approximately 10 inches long fell from over 100 feet above the worker, striking him in the head, knocking him unconscious. Other workers on the scene were able to lower him to the ground, where he regained consciousness. The injured worker was not wearing a helmet according to witnesses at the scene.
The worker was transported to the Kingman hospital by Pratt County Emergency Services, where they were met by a medical helicopter which transported the victim to a Wichita area hospital.
No names have been released in this incident at this time.
The Pratt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
