At 12:10 P.M. on this date, the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a fatality accident approximately 8 miles west of Pratt on US 54/400 Highway.
On arrival officers found two vehicles that had collided, a 2012 Honda traveling east had struck a 2003 Pontiac Vibe which was traveling west. According to witnesses at the scene, there was heavy rain at the time and the Pontiac Vibe crossed the center line and was struck in the right passenger side.
The driver of the Vibe, a 87 year old female, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene by the Pratt County Coroner. She was alone in the Vibe. Two people in the Honda, a 52 year old male and a 53 year old female, who was driving the Honda, were transported by Pratt County Emergency Services to Pratt Regional Medical Center. All victims were from Garden City, Ks.
Pratt County Emergency Services, Pratt County Rescue, Kansas Department of Transportation, and Cullison Fire Department assisted at the scene.
The Pratt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident. No names are being released pending notification of next of kin.
